The 2017 Malta 3×3 Championship Tour: It all boils down to the finals
The 2017 Malta 3×3 Finals will be held this weekend Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October in Pjazza San Gorg, Valletta.
After five months of thrilling play and a total of five qualifying stages (stops), the 2017 Malta 3X3 Championship Tour is coming to the grand finale in Valletta.
This first ever National 3×3 basketball Championship, which is endorsed by FIBA, saw the participation of 98 male and 16 female players since the first stop back in May.
Since then, the championship visited different locations around the Island, such as Ta`Qali, Birzebbuga, and Sliema.
This weekend, the best players along the tour will compete, over a two day event, for the novel Malta 3×3 title and a flight ticket to the European Satellite tournament in 2018.
The twelve qualified teams are split into four groups. Saturday will see the group phase where the top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals which will be played on Sunday together with the semi finals and grand final. A dance show and a 3-pointer shooting competition will also feature on Sunday.
This event, under the jurisdiction of the Malta Basketball Association, also forms part of the European Week of Sports and is supported by SportMalta, the Maltese Olympic Committee, Red Bull and Trustly.
