Statement re Coronavirus – Malta Basketball Association

To all Clubs:

As you are surely very much aware, a novel new respiratory virus has been discovered, the Novel Coronavirus (attached MBA statement also refers).

At present, there have been no confirmed cases in Malta.

In the current situation, the risk of ongoing transmission is if a person had exposure to a case.

In this regard, may we stress that if you or any of your players, coaches and/or club staff has visited the below mentioned countries during the past days:

  • China
  • Singapore
  • Hong Kong
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • Iran
  • Italy (Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, i.e. all the north of Italy above Tuscany),

  • one must stay at home for 14 days
  • and if one develops symptoms of fever, cough or shortness of breath, one needs to phone the Disease Prevention and Control Unit (IDCU) within the Superintendence of Public Health, Ministry for Health on Tel. no 21324086 and the unit will guide them accordingly.

Please act accordingly and see that any concerned people from your club do not put any other people at risk by ignoring the quarantine advice and being present in Ta Qali.
