Playing in San Marino and Ireland respectively, the Malta men and women national teams managed to end positively the group stage phase of the European Championships for Small Countries to qualify for the semifinals to be played tomorrow.
The men squad topped Group B after wins over Ireland and Andorra and will tomorrow meet Gibraltar who finished second in Group A. This game will tip off at 8pm. Norway will face Ireland in the other semifinal.
Meanwhile, in Cork, Ireland the women national team closed off their group stage with a 71-32 win over Gibraltar and qualified for the semifnals as the second placed in Group A behind Denmark.
The Malta ladies will now face Group B winners Luxembourg in tomorrow’s semifinal commencing at 8.30pm. Denmark will play Norway in the earlier semifinal on the day.
The gold and bronze medal games will be then played on Sunday.
