Malta Basketball Association

Basketball – a notable winner in the SportMalta Awards Ghazliet Sportivi Nazzjonali

Basketball was also on the stage during the 2017 SportMalta Awards Ghazliet Sportivi Nazzjonali when president Paul Sultana and coach Angela Adamoli won their respective Sport Official and Coach of the Year awards.

Paul Sultana was voted as the 2017 Sport Official of the Year and became the fifth basketball related person to win this award after Louis Borg, Louis Micallef, John Tabone and Bernard Vassallo had won the same honour in past editions.

Sultana led the association on a successful year with good results on the international scene, developmens on the local scene as well as the inauguration of the new basketball pavilion where he worked hard together with the general secretary Joseph Muscat on this project whose first phase was completed late in 2017.

On the other hand, Angela Adamoli became the first basketball related person to win the Coach of the Year Award after this award was started three years ago.

Adamoli spearheaded and was the mastermind behind the national women’s superb success in the Games of the Small States of Europe in San Marino.

The Women National Team, gold medal winners in San Marino, was very close to win the Team of the Year award but came a very close second. Other ‘basketball’ finalists on the night were Bernard Vassallo and Christina Grima.
